The Annabelle Rose Foundation for Spinal Muscular Atrophy

Facebook Twitter

helping those who need it most

Leyton was diagnosed with SMA Type 2 when he was 17 Months Old. SMA causes muscle weakness and progressive loss of movement. It occurs due to deterioration in the nerve cells (motor neurones) connecting the brain and spinal cord to the body's muscles. Leyton's Core Muscles have already been severely affected which has made him weak and as a result of this he will never be able to walk let alone stand without a form of aid. In time this condition will affect other muscles in his body meaning simply sitting unaided could become impossible!

Although Leyton may not be able to walk, he's still a bright, lively little boy and is a bundle of giggles - it doesn't seem to have affected his cheeky chappy character and we're positive that he will achieve great things in life!

We will be raising money and Awareness of this Life Threatening condition to fund for a custom built wheelchair called the SnapDragon produced by DragonMobility. We feel with the technology of the SnapDragon, this would give him the best Quality of Life and enables him to do things independently, just like how other toddlers his age would. However, the SnapDragon is a costly item.

Other Fundraising activities are currently being organised to raise money to help towards funding for other important equipment that Leyton will eventually need such as Supported Bath Seats and Panthera Micro Chair to name a few.
